Unstoppable
in 7 Steps!

Unstoppable in 7 Steps!

H ave you ever wondered how some people wake up happy, vibrant and full of life? You know these crazy people I’m talking about? Annoyingly optimistic. Energetic, productive, confident, and passionate.

They move about the day as a force to be reckoned with. And no matter what happens, nothing seems to phase them. They’re a beacon of joy and energy, and as a result, people are naturally drawn to their radiance.

What makes these people different from the rest is not a natural ability or a talent that they were born with. They possess no clear advantage over anyone else.

The difference is that they’ve made a choice to be this way. These people have decided to live their life the way they want and have cultivated a consistent, daily ritual that makes them the way that they are.

‘We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit’
~Aristotle

You are defined by your rituals. What you do on a consistent basis.

If you’re always miserable, unhappy, anxious or living in fear, it’s because you have rituals that may not even be aware of, that are creating these emotions in your body on a consistent basis. You’ve literally trained yourself to be this way through practice and conditioning.

But you can change. You can be happy, confident, and passionate each day. Just decide to be!

This is how I do it. My secret to self-confidence, happiness, and vitality: a powerful morning ritual. A set of seven healthy habits that literally makes me unstoppable for the rest of the day. It creates a powerful momentum and allows me to start off the day with energy, be productive, focused, healthy, and happy. And a s a result, negativity doesn’t seem to affect me much.

My day starts at 5:00 am with…

#1
A stretch ‘n smile!

When I wake up in the morning, I give my body a stretch all the way from my head to my toes. Get out of that zombie-mode and get the blood-flow circulating through the body. And smile while your at it! Be happy and appreciate the fact that you’re alive. It is an act of gratitude. A smile is engaging your physiology, which changes your state. There are over 50 muscles in your face, and most of them are being used the moment you smile. You will begin to feel good immediately!

#2
Listen to something inspirational

Still in the warmth of our bed, glowing from my stretch ‘n smile, I grab my iPod to listen to something inspirational for about 30 minutes. This can be something like a TEDTalk, a part of an audiobook or a podcast from Oprah Winfrey. Anything motivational or inspirational that feeds my mind!

#3
Drink water

When I get out of bed around 5:30 am, first thing I do is drink two glasses of lukewarm water. Your body is severely dehydrated the moment you wake up. Drinking water hydrates, will stimulate your digestive system to start waking up, and provides a little wake up call to your brain as well.

#4
Meditate

Then I’ll meditate for 20 minutes. Meditation helps me to focus. I set myself up for a mentally and emotionally protected day. I get into a state of stability. This makes it easy for me to focus and concentrate on something, whether at work, at home or even when in stressful situations.

#5
Take a cold shower

I start my shower off with warm to hot water. Then as the shower goes on, I slowly decrease the temperature until the water is cold for the last minute. The cold water increase the heart rate and increases my body’s oxygen intake, resulting in more energy throughout my day.

#6
Eat breakfast

Though I am not that conscious about eating super-healthy, I always eat breakfast and I make sure that at least one piece of that breakfast is fruit. Along with that goes some yoghurt with cereal, crackers with cheese or a breakfast sandwich. And two large mugs of warm lemon water. Just lemon juice in warm water. That pumps up my immune system, helps to detox and it is said that lemon water might cause weight loss. Nothing wrong with that!

#7
Fresh air

Then it is 7:10 am and I am off to work. A bike ride for 20 minutes, enjoying the fresh air! I always leave the house at the same time each day. Nothing worse than falling behind first thing in the morning. Your day may never recover…
