Having Faith: 7 Why’s

In August 2013 I wrote the blog ‘7 Ways to Let Go‘ and a couple of days ago I was reminded of it by a conversation I had with a coach [and friend]. She explained to me the process of making a conscious choice to choose the green road…

There is a spot called ‘choice’ and it marks the beginning of two different roads: a red one and a green one. Along the red road you find doubt, frustration, fear, uncertainty, regret, guilt. Along the green road nothing but fulfillment, accomplishment, purpose and happiness. On the red road energy goes down and on the green road energy is going through the roof!

She explained to me that as long as you don’t make a conscious choice about issues that are playing out in your life, you keep hanging in that ‘choice’-spot. You keep returning to it and don’t make any progress.

Once in a while the issue at hand may seem to have solved itself. It seems that you are on the green road and everything seems to be working out fine, but then doubt, or fear, or uncertainty kick in and BOEM! …you are back in the [did I make the right] ‘choice’-spot.

So to get on that green road of a bright future, you have to make conscious choices to do so and then go for it. And if it was that easy, my blog would end here… but it doesn’t!

As soon as you make the conscious choice to step onto that green road, you encounter two road blocks, disguised as questions. If I take this green road,
- ‘What can I let go of?’ and
- ‘What can I have faith in?’

The first of these two questions made my re-read my blog on letting go again. Which also reminded me to take my own advice more often…

The second question, ‘What can I have faith in?’, seems to be a central question in my life right now. It keeps popping up! It is with faith that we can accomplish our dreams. It is with faith that we can build visions of new beginnings, filled with possibilities. It is with faith that our creativity grows and it is faith that gives us the energy we need to carry us through all the changes we will encounter. So how to restore faith in yourself, the situation, in the future, in the infinite?

This made me re-read a passage in one of my favorite books ‘Think and Grow Rich’ by Napoleon Hill, on faith. He gives us the seven why’s to have faith:

#1
Faith is the ‘eternal elixir’

Faith is the ‘eternal elixir’ which gives life, power, and action to the impulse of thought! According to Napoleon Hill this sentence is worth reading a second time, and a third, and a fourth. It is worth reading aloud!

#2
Faith is the starting point of all

Faith is the starting point of all accumulation of riches!

#3
Faith is the basis of all ‘miracles’

Faith is the basis of all ‘miracles’ and all mysteries which cannot be analyzed by the rules of science!

#4
Faith is the only known antidote for failure!

#5
Faith is the element which gives one direct communication with Infinite Intelligence

Faith is the element, the ‘chemical’ which, when mixed with prayer, gives one direct communication with Infinite Intelligence.

#6
Faith transforms thought into the spiritual equivalent

Faith is the element which transforms the ordinary vibration of thought, created by the finite mind of man, into the spiritual equivalent.

#7
Faith is the only agency through which Infinite Intelligence can be harnessed

Faith is the only agency through which the cosmic force of Infinite Intelligence can be harnessed and used by man.

Napoleon Hill calls faith your single greatest asset and even goes so far to say ‘that it runs the world’.

Having faith in the fact that everything will work out fine is like taking your next breath, breathing. Faith is awareness of and belief in harmonizing with the universal powers. Faith is a state of mind which must be active not passive.

Close the door to fear behind you and you will quickly see the door of faith open before you. Fear is nothing more than a state of mind, which is subject to your own direction and control.

Faith will not bring you what you desire, but it will show you the way to go after it for yourself. So take a deep breath, let go of fear and believe in the security of faith. And then take a giant step onto that green road and start walking!
