7 Tricks to Recharge Yourself

It is summer time! It is holiday time! Maybe you go abroad, maybe not, but this time of year is definitely a time to unwind and recharge your mind, body and soul.

How busy is your life? How exhausted do you feel most of the time?

The hectic lifestyle many of us are living has an incredibly negative effect on our physical, mental and spiritual health. All that pushing can feel so smart and productive, until we are exhausted, overextended, overwhelmed, or otherwise ready to snap. There’s only so much your body, mind, and spirit can take.

It is essential to find ways to renew and recharge your energies and bring your body, mind and soul into alignment.

And not just during the holidays. If you don’t do this for yourself on a regular basis, life’s going to be hard because you’ll be constantly dragging yourself around with a total lack of energy.

So if you’re feeling drained, try these seven tricks to clear out bad energy and let yourself shine again!

#1
Give yourself a break physically

Allow yourself a little extra sleep, whether it’s by going to bed a half-hour earlier or by sleeping in an extra fifteen minutes and then skipping your usual morning coffee stop. Take a day off from exercising or replace strenuous exercise with something less intense, like yoga. Or get a massage. Massages are not only relaxing, they’ve also been proven to minimize anxiety, boost the immune system, and reduce depression and anxiety.

#2
Give yourself a break mentally

Take some time to meditate, even if it’s just for five minutes. Use a deep breathing technique to calm your nervous system and clear your thoughts. Go out in nature. Feel the ground or grass underneath your feet and focus on being present, on enjoying your environment and the scenery.

#3
Use salt

Salt baths are more than just indulgent. After a heavy day, or if you’re really emotional, run a hot bath and put in 2 to 3 cups of Dead Sea salt or Epsom salt [magnesium sulfate] to relax and feel better. If you don’t have time for a bath, simply take a handful and scrub yourself with it in the shower. Both Dead Sea and Epsom salts have lots of therapeutic benefits, such as easing stress, slowing skin aging, calming the nervous system, detoxing and relaxing the body.

#4
Turn your worries into smoke

When you come home feeling down about something that happened, light a candle and grab a piece of paper or a twig. Take a deep breath, then exhale and blow all of your stress into that object. Keep breathing and blowing until you feel like it’s all out of your system. Then let the fire consume it. Just make sure you’re nowhere near your curtains or other flammable materials!

#5
Take a tech break

The internet enables us to track our investments and our fitness, catch up on favorite TV shows, play word games with friends or strangers and order groceries. But that same technology can also disconnect us from what’s most meaningful in our lives. There is more to life than flickering pixels and online avatars. More than status updates and Google alerts. Your cell phone doesn’t do your health or your energy any favors. So take a tech break once in a while. No cellphone. No iPad. No Instagram feed. No excuses!

#6
Take a nap

You can get incredible benefits from 15 to 20 minutes of napping. You reset your system and get a burst of alertness and increased motor performance. The 20-minute power nap is good for alertness and motor learning skills like typing or playing the piano. Longer naps help boost memory and enhance creativity. Slow-wave sleep, napping for approximately 30 to 60 minutes, is good for decision-making skills, such as memorizing vocabulary or recalling directions. Getting REM sleep, usually 60 to 90 minutes of napping, plays a key role in making new connections in the brain and solving creative problems.

#7
Stay away from negative people

Staying away from negative people will make your life much easier to deal with. You know already that negative, unhappy people have one ability and that is to bring you down. Their negative moods and words are like a toxic poison. Letting go of any negativity in your life will help you to recharge, so step away from the influence of negative people. Surround yourself with positive people who will lift you up and recharge your life.
