Daily Intentions
October
‘Any time women come together with a collective intention,
it’s a powerful thing. When women come together with a collective intention, magic happens.’
Phylicia Rashad
I value myself
There really is not that much difference between a spectacularly successful person and a dismal failure. But the little difference there is, is crucial. And the difference is self esteem. People who succeed are people who believe in themselves and value themselves.
I take one step at a time
Great achievements rarely ever come in a single shot. They come from a lot of little steps, one after the other, day after day. The successful people in life are able to visualize their goals. And that really is the easy part. Successful people are also able to visualize the pathway to their goals, the series of steps along the way. Success isn’t a destination, it is a journey!
I make it my choice
Let go of the thoughts that you need to do, that you need to have, and that you need to be this or that. Embrace the opportunities to choose to do, choose to have, and choose to be. If you’re constantly catching up with your needs, you’re operating from a perspective of weakness. Instead, see the tasks, commitments and responsibilities as things you have chosen, and give your life the positive power it deserves.
I show kindness
Try a little kindness, with no expectations of anything in return. It will improve your outlook, your effectiveness, and it might even lower your blood pressure! Put some kindness into the world and you’ll like what the world gives back.
I look in the mirror
‘If you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make a change’ ~Michael Jackson
Whatever you see when you evaluate other people, is a projection of what is inside of you. The source of your thoughts and feelings about other people, about things, about situations, is you. When you see darkness, it is your darkness. When you see beauty, it is your own beauty. Grasp this concept, and you can change your world.
I am the difference
When things around you seem too noisy, hectic and out of control, be extra calm, peaceful and patient. When the world seems a bit too confused and aimless, be extra focused and purposeful. The world outside will soon reflect back to you the energy you give it. If you don’t like what you see, you have the opportunity to change it by changing the way you are. If there is darkness all around you, that’s an opportunity for you to shine your own special light. Even a small beacon in the darkness will shine for a long, long way. Choose to be the difference that makes a real difference.
I am independent
Step back and look at yourself sometime. Look at all the things you do by habit. Look at all the things you take for granted. Look at all you depend on. Your car, your phone, electricity. And think about life without them. It might just open your eyes to a lot of new possibilities. Humans prospered and created great things for thousands of years without these tools!
I put in consistent effort
Effort, by very definition, is not easy. It’s relatively easy to get all fired up with new plans or to get motivated by a new business opportunity. But after a few days, the initial excitement wears off and you’re left with the need for effort. That’s where most people drop out. The excitement is easy, the effort is not. However, it is the effort, applied consistently over the long haul, that makes the difference.
I keep going in the right direction
Clarify your sense of direction. We all have a general idea of where we want to go, though very few people take the time to really think in specifics. But if you don’t know exactly where you want to go, you tend to stray off track. Distractions come along and pull you in a lot of different directions. Decisions become difficult to make when you don’t have a clear direction. Knowing exactly where you’re going can focus your efforts like nothing else. Ask yourself, ‘Is what I am doing right now getting me any closer to where I want to be?’
I am lucky
Have you ever wondered how some people can be lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time? We’re all in the right place at the right time. It’s just that some people don’t know it, and others are not prepared for it. The folks we call “lucky” are the people who can see opportunity and who are prepared to take advantage of it. Opportunity is always present, but it is rarely obvious. To be lucky, you must learn to see opportunity where others see nothing. This requires an open mind. It requires that you look at situations from many different perspectives, all the time wondering “what if?” It requires the courage to try something completely new and the confidence to follow your own path. Lucky people are the ones who are prepared for opportunity. Want to be lucky? Open your eyes to the opportunities around you!
the magic is me
Life is truly magical and you can experience the magic in every moment. Life is magical and that magic is here and now. Life’s magic is to know reality at its highest level. All that’s needed is to live with an appreciation for the magic that is always there. Life’s magic is a deeper and more thankful understanding of what is real and present in your world. The real magic of life is the fact that you can see, feel, think, choose, live and love. The magic of life is life itself, the very life that you experience in each moment. Live the magic, for the magic is you!
I feel good
Very often, the things you think will make you feel good in the moment will leave you feeling very bad in the long run. Don’t make your good feelings conditioned on what you’re watching, eating, drinking or experiencing. Make the choice to feel great no matter what. Allow good feelings to come from you. Don’t limit your good feelings to only certain circumstances. Feel good because of your choice, and don’t be emotionally dependent on things that are beyond your control.
I can do it
The biggest obstacle standing between you and anything you want, is your lack of belief that you can have it. Once you truly believe it is possible, once you can see yourself doing it or being it or having it, the rest is just details. With belief, plus the commitment to follow through and do whatever it takes, anything can be yours.
my pleasures are under my control
By nature, we want to do what is pleasurable to us. And so pleasure is a powerful motivator. Rather than finding ways to serve your pleasures, find pleasures that will serve you. Instead of taking pleasure in getting drunk, sitting in front of the TV, and complaining about other people, learn to find pleasure in walking around the neighborhood, discovering new ideas, finding new and better ways to do your job. Just like everything else in your world, your pleasures are under your control.
I am my most trusted advisor
There is one person whom you have no choice but to believe… Yourself! You must believe what you say to yourself. The problem is, not everything you tell yourself is in your best interest. Have you ever caught yourself saying ‘I’ll never get that done’ or ‘I’m just no good at this’? When you catch yourself doing this STOP, and instead, tell yourself something like ‘ I am making good progress at this’ or ’I’m getting better and better at this’. Whatever you say to yourself, you’ll believe. And whatever you believe, you’ll be. Be your most trusted advisor. Make sure you give yourself the very best support, advice and encouragement every day.
I stick with it
‘Be like a postage stamp. Stick to one thing until you get there.’ ~Margaret Carty
I wonder how many people give up on their dream when they are just a week or two away from the big breakthrough that would bring it about? One of the most challenging aspects of attaining success is to maintain a sense of urgency about your work, while at the same being patient enough to stick with it for as long as necessary. It takes belief, faith and confidence. Belief in what you are doing.
I aim my mind
You have within you the power and ability to solve every problem and deal with every challenge that life presents. Your mind is a powerful tool that is always working to make your world the place you expect it to be. If you expect to be lonely, and sick or without money, your mind will find a way for it to happen. And when you expect to be healthy, prosperous and loved, then your mind will find a way for that to happen. Is what you expect for yourself the same as what you want for yourself? Know what you want, fully expect to get it, and take the necessary actions to bring it about.
I enjoy my day
Whatever you find yourself doing, enjoy it. Who says that work has to be difficult and tedious? Find a way to enjoy it, and you will be infinitely more effective. Who says that cold, rainy weather has to be miserable? That’s just somebody’s opinion. Enjoy the cold wind on your face. Enjoy the beauty of the rainfall, and a former source of misery will change to a source of delight. Enjoy what you do. Enjoy where you are. Enjoy the people you’re with.
I remove mental sludge
As time goes on, the build-up of sludge happens to clog pipes, riverbeds and coronary arteries. If the sludge keeps coming and is never removed, it eventually leads to disaster. Is there a build-up of dangerous sludge in your mind, as well? Years and years of negative thoughts, critical comments, assumptions, defeats and frustrations can deposit a layer of mental sludge that clogs your thinking and prevents your thoughts from flowing freely. Focus on the dreams and the sludge will start to melt away. Concentrate on the positive, and the possible, and your thoughts will start to flow freely. Unclog the negative thoughts and free your mind and yourself to do great things.
I raise my standards
The best way to keep from falling back, is to constantly move ahead. If you truly want a better life, then live it! Look for ways to grow, in every area of your life. Continue to raise your expectations, and your standards. Raise your standards in the work you do. Look for ways to provide additional value. Raise the standards of the people you’re with. Get around people who can inspire and challenge you. Raise your health standards. Take good care of your body. Raise the standards in the way you spend your time. Live life on purpose.
I change the way I perceive the world
Is the glass half full, or half empty? It’s a classic conundrum that drives home a powerful point — you see what you choose to see. Though we often cannot control the reality of the world, we have complete control over our perception and interpretation of reality. And we have complete control over the actions we take in response. You can literally program yourself for success by changing the way you perceive the world around you. The world is what you expect it to be, and nothing else. Expect the best and that is the kind of world you will create!
I find peace in the turmoil
Life often seems overwhelming. Constant deadlines, ever-increasing responsibilities, things that take twice as long as you thought they would. Step back for a moment. Step back from it all, on a regular basis. You must learn to do your work, without letting your work do you. Remember, you are in control here. Accept and honor your responsibilities, just remember to keep them in perspective. Don’t let it get to you. Make an effort to step back. The more at peace you are, the more productive and creative you’ll be.
I start my day as a winner
Expect good things to happen. And you’ll find the good in whatever happens. Circumstances will work in your favor when you’re focused on finding the positive. Thoughts control your actions. Actions control your life. Look for opportunities to make a difference. The more people you serve, the more abundant your life will be in every respect. Take responsibility. The person you are, the things you have, the life you live is up to you. You are in control. Make it the best you can.
I make it special
Think of the moments in your life that have been truly special. Not the times that are built up to be grand and exalted, but rather those experiences which you will carry with you forever. What was it that made them special? It was whatever you put into them. It was your effort, your commitment, your sacrifice, the part of yourself that you gave to the moment. The moments of life are as special as you make them.
I live with confidence
Nothing succeeds like confidence. When you are truly and justifiably confident, it radiates from you like sunlight, and attracts success to you like a magnet. Confidence is more than an attitude. It comes from knowing exactly where you’re going, and exactly how you’re going to get there. It comes from acting with integrity. It comes from a strong sense of purpose. It comes from a commitment to take responsibility, rather than just let life happen.

I control my beliefs
Your beliefs have the the power to create or to destroy your life. Whatever you believe, is what you will become. If you believe that you’re a loser, that you never get a break, that you can’t accomplish anything, these things will be your reality. Believe that you are unlimited, that you can do anything you commit to doing, and when you do, your accomplishments will know no bounds. You control your beliefs, and that is how you ultimately control of your life. You control your beliefs. You believe what you choose to believe.
I take the first step
Envision your goal at the top of a stairway and yourself at the bottom. Now look way up at the top, and see your goal. Then look at the next step down from the top. That would be the last step you need to take before you accomplish your goal. What is that step? And what is the step before it, and the one before that? Identify the steps, all the way down to the very first one, the one that’s right in front of you. That is the step you can take today. Stand up tall, focus on the top of the stairway, and take that first step. You’re on your way! Now all you need to do is just keep taking those steps, one after one.
is when I do it
If you can’t find the right words to use, use the words you have. If you’re not sure what to do, just get busy and do what you can. The way to learn how to improve whatever you’re doing is to do it. The more experience you give yourself, the more readily you’ll see how to make it better. Start doing whatever you can. The most effective way to figure out what to do is to figure it out as you go along.
I am doing
Trying is not enough. Doing is the only thing that counts. In fact, trying can be worse than doing nothing at all. When you are ‘ rying’ to do something, you’re under the illusion that you’re actually doing something, and so you don’t make any effort to do any more. Trying is action without commitment. Doing will get you results. Stop trying. Start doing.
I have what it takes
You already have the raw material for success and achievement. You have what it takes to achieve greatness in anything you desire. Within you, is the potential for extraordinary accomplishment. No one is better suited for success than you. Yet, you are the one who must make it happen. You are the one who must make the commitment, and do whatever it takes, to achieve the greatness of which you’re capable.
